Students’ Unions demand action against accused in death case

DEMOW, Nov 1: The Demow Regional Students Union, Asomiya Yuva Mancha (AYM), Demow Town
Committee, All Tai Ahom Students Union (ATASU), Demow Regional Committee, All Tea Tribes Students
Association (ATTSA), Demow Branch and All Adivasi Students Association of Assam (AASAA), Sivasagar
District on Wednesday submitted a memorandum to the officer-in-charge of the Demow Police Station
on Tuesday.
In the memorandum they stated that on October 3 Rajkapur Panika, headmaster of the Rajmai Kishan
Primary School was being continuously harassed mentally by some miscreants. Unable to bear the
mental torture, he committed suicide.
The students’ organizations alleged that even after almost a month has passed, the police have not been
able to apprehend the culprits. They demanded the police take appropriate to arrest the culprits
involved in the incident at the earliest and proper punishment be accorded to them. They also stated
that if proper measures were not taken within a few days, they will undertake strong protest
programme in this regard.
