Tensions flare in Margherita after brutal attack

MARGHERITA, July 15: Tension prevailed at Mission Tiniali under Margherita Police Station in Tinsukia district on Monday afternoon when two youths brutally attacked another youth over a land dispute and used communal slurs.

On Monday, noted businessman of Margherita Arup Paul’s son, Abhishek Paul, went to Mission Tiniali, Margherita, where two youths, identified as Sushengfha Buragohain, son of Deep Buragohain, and Shivam Deka Phukan, son of Jitu Deka Phukan, both residents of Margherita, brutally beat Abhishek Paul without any provocation and fled the scene using communal slurs.

Abhishek Paul told media persons in Margherita that he and his friend Subrata Debnath had gone to Changlang Tiniali, Margherita, to inspect a plot where he planned to open a hospital. In the meantime, the two youths, Sushengfha Buragohain and Shivam Deka Phukan, brutally attacked him and fled the scene.

An FIR has been lodged at Margherita Police Station by Abhishek Paul. Attempts to contact the youths who attacked him were unsuccessful at the time of filing this report.

It may be mentioned that Sushengfha Buragohain is the son of Deep Buragohain, proprietor of Hotel Blue Moon, located at Chariali, Margherita.
