DALGAON, Nov 17: In a tragic incident, Omar Ali, a labourer, lost his life in a tiger attack in Badlibarali Chapari, Orang, on Sunday morning. The attack marks the second tiger-related incident in the region within three months, highlighting the growing conflict between humans and wildlife.
Ali was harvesting paddy when the tiger attacked him from behind, leaving him severely injured. He was rushed to Kharupetia BPHC and later referred to GMCH for better treatment, but unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries.
The recurring incidents of tiger attacks in the region have raised concerns about the increasing human-wildlife conflict. Experts suggest that habitat fragmentation, human encroachment into wildlife territories, and competition for resources contribute to this conflict.
To mitigate such conflicts, conservation efforts focus on maintaining a safe distance between human settlements and wildlife habitats. Strategies include relocating human settlements, providing compensation for crop damage and livestock losses, and promoting coexistence through education and awareness.
