Guwahati, April 15: Several movement restrictions have been implemented in Guwahati due to the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on April 16.
The Guwahati Traffic Police have issued these to ensure public safety, particularly for vulnerable road users, and to allow free passage for emergency vehicles.
Restrictions include a ban on commercial goods vehicles on NH-17 and several other roads from 3 PM to 10 PM on April 16, 2024. Slow moving vehicles and carts will also be restricted on these roads during this time.
From 3 PM on April 16, 2024, all ASTC and private city buses will be regulated from LGBI Airport towards Khanapara. From 4 PM, vehicles will be allowed to ply on one track from ABC Point to Assam Legislative Assembly Rotary along GS Road, and from 6 PM, no vehicular traffic will be permitted on this stretch.
These restrictions will not affect the movement of emergency vehicles. In addition, the Guwahati Traffic Police have earmarked several diversion points for the smooth and safe movement of the VVIP arcade and stoppage of vehicles on feeder roads, by lanes, cuttings, and opposite lanes.
