AGARTALA, Feb 6: Tripura BJP President, Rajib Bhattacharya, has urged the people to reject the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPIM) and Congress in the upcoming Lok Sabha election, accusing them of depriving the public and misappropriating funds intended for the welfare of the poor and farmers.
Leading a massive joining program in Sonamura, Sepahijala district, Bhattacharya witnessed a substantial shift in allegiance as 817 voters from 213 families switched their support to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), distancing themselves from the CPIM and Congress.
Addressing the gathering, the BJP president highlighted the growing support for the party across the state, emphasizing the significance of people leaving the Congress and CPIM to join the BJP.
“A new hope has been ignited in the people, believing that if anyone can bring about real development, it is only the BJP government. This double-engine government is dedicated to development. With faith in the BJP, people have formed the government for a second term,” India Today NE quoted Bhattacharya as saying.
He also accused the CPIM of ruling the state for 25 years, alleging embezzlement of funds meant for the welfare of the poor and farmers.
“The CPIM ruled the state for 25 years, chanting slogans while allegedly looting the money of the poor. They failed to introduce any schemes beneficial to the people and instead engaged in fraudulent funds, siphoning off money for personal gains,” he added.
Highlighting the alleged shortcomings of the CPIM and Congress alliance, Bhattacharya declared that it was time to oust them from Sonamura and the state in the upcoming Lok Sabha election.
“CPI(M) and Congress joined forces and contested the 2023 Assembly election. CPIM won in Sonamura, but what has he raised in the assembly? Now, it’s time to overthrow CPIM and Congress from Sonamura and the state in the Lok Sabha election,” he proclaimed.
In a parallel development at the BJP state party office in Agartala, more than 100 workers from Trinamool Congress and other political parties, including Trinamool Congress secretary Amit Kumar Saha, joined the BJP, signaling a shift in political affiliations ahead of the upcoming elections.
