Uxoricide leads one to life imprisonment

SIVASAGAR, Sept 16: In a recent verdict , the district & session
court Sivasagar warded Krishna Bhuyan, aka Tulshi, was
sentenced to life imprisonment for brutally murdering his wife,
Bundi Murari.
The incident occurred on the night of February 26, 2022, at the
residence of Janti Murari, the victim’s sister in Murari Gaon
under Demow PS.( Case no 36/22)
According to the report, Bundi Murari Bundi Murari and other
members of her sister”s family were asleep, the accused,
Krishna Bhuyan, entered the premises and attacked his wife
with a dao and killed her on the spot. After committing the
crime, Krishna Bhuyan fled from the scene.
However, Demow police later arrested the criminal and sent
him for the trial.
In their ruling, the court of Justice Lohit KR Saikia stated that
the accused, Krishna Bhuyan, does not pose a menace to
orderly society. Therefore, they deemed it would be unjust to
impose the death penalty to the accused.
Instead, the accused was sentenced to rigorous Imprisonment
for life under section 302 IPC and ordered to pay a fine of Rs
10,000/- (ten thousand rupees). Failure to pay the fine will
result in an additional three-month imprisonment term.
