Vaccination drive for goats organised at Hira Basti Village in Hojai

HOJAI, June 1: A mass vaccination programme for PPR (Peste Des Petits Ruminants) disease in goats and its prevention was organised at Hira Basti Village under Dimpurpar Panchayat in Hojai Assam by RAHC Hojai, animal husbandry & veterinary department in collaboration with Family Strengthening Programme of SOS Children’s Village Hojai on Saturday.

The programme was led by Dr Roshni Rai, VO, Hojai with her team. The vaccination programme started early in the morning from 8 am and continued till 12 noon.

In the program the health condition, pregnancy status, age of the goat were verified first by the team and if found suitable for vaccination then PPR vaccination was done. Total 60 goats were vaccinated on the day and for 100 goats ear tag was issued for online registration to receive further service provision under the dept.

The Village level Pashu Sakhi, Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Department volunteers and Animators of FS Programme of SOS CV Hojai present for smooth management of the programme. The community people were so happy to get the free vaccination for the PPR diseases with diagnosis and prescription for present diseases and free Vitamins supplement for their goats. The village leaders appreciated the initiative of FS Program of SOS CV,Hojai and RAHC Hojai, animal husbandry & veterinary department, govt of Assam.
