GUWAHATI, Dec 10: Dr Purnima Devi Barman, a distinguished wildlife scientist renowned for her outstanding work in conservation, was honored with The KidVeda Change Maker Award-2023 during the annual function “Kid Fest 2023,” hosted by The KidVeda group of Pre-Schools in Guwahati.
This prestigious award acknowledges and applauds individuals who have made remarkable contributions toward positive societal impact. Dr Barman stands as the inaugural recipient of this esteemed accolade, underscoring her pioneering efforts in devising a unique community-driven strategy for the preservation of the Greater Adjutant Stork, locally known as the HARGILLA.
The KidVeda Changemaker Award ceremony and “Kid Fest 2023” took place on December 10 and 11, 2023, at Pragjyotish ITA Machkhowa in Guwahati. The event witnessed participation from over 2,000 children across 26 branches of KidVeda Pre-Schools, showcasing their talents through various themed performances.
Beyond the students of KidVeda Pre-schools, the event welcomed performances by children from marginalized communities within the city, in collaboration with the NGO – Robinhood Army and The State Home for Women and Children, Jalukbari, Guwahati. This initiative aimed to foster community engagement and provide a platform for underprivileged children to interact, perform, and integrate with their peers.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Purnima, the esteemed recipient of the KidVeda Changemaker Award, enlightened the children and parents about the significance of sustainable living. On the other hand, Dr Ranjit Sharma, Principal of Handique Girls College, the chief guest on December 10, encouraged and motivated the young attendees with an inspiring speech.
Guests of Honor, RJ Mandy, expressed delight in being part of the event and shared words of motivation and encouragement for the enthusiastic young participants.
KidVeda, a community comprising parents, teachers, and students with over 55 centers across Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, and Manipur, not only ensures high-quality early childhood education but also fosters entrepreneurial and employment opportunities for women. Having assisted over 70 individuals in establishing sustainable businesses, KidVeda boasts an 80 per cent female workforce within its centers.
The KidVeda KidsFest stands as a significant annual gathering, providing a unique platform where KidVeda centers converge to celebrate a grand culmination.
The event showcased captivating performances centered on themes such as Indian Defence Services, paying homage to various artists, and showcasing the rich cultural diversity of Assam and India. The heartfelt performances by the young talents stole the spotlight, leaving an indelible mark on the audience.
