Guwahati, Jan 11: In a joint operation by the Special Task Force (STF) and the Government Railway Police (GRP), a woman was apprehended and suspected heroin was seized from her at the Assam-Meghalaya border.
The raid was conducted on the residence of Raja Giri at 15th Mile in Amtola Basti of Kamrup Metro district, according to an official statement.
During the raid, items including a soap box, 10 vials, a tobacco box containing suspected heroin weighing 70 grams, six mobile phones believed to be stolen, Rs 12,400 in cash, five syringes and 18 empty vials were seized.
The woman apprehended was identified as Sabina Giri (32). Follow-up action is in progress. In a separate raid by the STF Assam, 35 bags of betel nuts thought to be of Burmese origin were recovered from the Saraighat Express at New Bongaigaon Railway station.
No arrests have been made in relation to this seizure, and action is ongoing.
