New Delhi, Feb 7: Senior Congress leader KC Venugopal criticised PM Narendra Modi on Wednesday for his comments against Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge in Parliament.
This followed PM Modi’s remarks on Kharge’s ‘400 seats’ statement, expressing joy and hoping for its fulfilment. Kharge had earlier addressed the Rajya Sabha on women’s representation, commenting on the government’s majority in Lok Sabha.
Union minister Piyush Goyal interpreted Kharge’s statement as endorsement of BJP’s election target.
Venugopal accused PM Modi of crossing a line with ‘cheap, juvenile and misleading attacks on the Congress’, which he stated in a lengthy post on X.
He also claimed that Modi had no clear solution on unemployment and price rise, adding that another term for Modi and BJP would mean hopelessness and despair for the poor and middle classes.
PM Modi had earlier criticised Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, implying there was little ‘entertainment’ in Lok Sabha, and questioned how Kharge was allowed to speak at length in the Upper House.
