New Delhi, Feb 9: The Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry (APAAR) has been launched by the Union Ministry of Education in rural areas via Common Service Centres (CSCs).
According to a statement from the ministry, APAAR is a part of the National Education Policy (NEP 2020), requiring all college and university students to register on the Academic Bank of Credits (ABC).
The ABC acts as a digital storage for students’ marks or credits, along with their personal information, aiding future admission processes.
The Department of School Education and Literacy’s Secretary, Sanjay Kumar, emphasised the growing number of digital services in the country. K Sanjay Murthy, the Higher Education Secretary, noted that ABC operates similarly to the National Academic Depository (NAD), with academic institutions managing credit redemption, certificate issuance, and award records compilation.
The Chairman of the All India Council for Technical Education, Anil Sahasrabudhe, stated that the APAAR ID would remain with students for life, eliminating the need for certificates in future examinations.
