DIPHU, May 7: The White Doves Society organised the 2nd Open Half Marathon Competition 2023 here on Sunday. The event was flagged off at 5:30 am by Assistant Conservator of Forest, Prahalad Kro, and his family, one of the donors for the event. A total of 53 men and 31 women participated in the marathon.
In the men’s category, Bipul Satnami secured the first place, while Bijoy Deka, Sanidul Islam, and Son Engti secured the second, third, and fourth place, respectively. Shyamali Singh secured the first place in the women’s category, followed by Sangmir Teronpi in second place and Tsuchoi T in third place.
Cash prizes of ` 10,000, along with mementos, were awarded to the first-place winners in both the men’s and women’s categories. The second and third place winners were awarded cash prizes of ` 7,000 and ` 5,000, respectively, along with mementos.
Consolation prizes of ` 1,000 each were given to five participants in both the men’s and women’s categories. The prize distribution ceremony was attended by several dignitaries and donors, including Raju Rongchehon, Khorsing Terang, Borsing Kro, and members of the White Doves Society.
The organizers thanked all their sponsors and media partners, including The Hills Times, for their support.
