Matsya Avatar

In this incarnation, Lord Vishnu appeared as a fish to save the first man, Manu, from a great flood that destroyed the world. 

Kurma Avatar

In this incarnation, Lord Vishnu appeared as a tortoise to support the weight of the universe during the churning of the ocean by the gods and demons to obtain the nectar of immorality. 

Varaha Avatar

In this incarnation, Lord Vishnu appeared as a wild boar to rescue the earth goddess, Bhudevi, from the demon Hiranyaksha, who had dragged her into the depths of the cosmic ocean. 

Narasingha Avatar

In this incarnation, Lord Vishnu appeared as a half-man, half-lion to kill the demon king Hiranyakashipu, who have become invincible through a boon from Lord Brahma. 

Brahman Avatar 

In this incarnation, Lord Vishnu appeared as a dwarf brahmana to trick the demon king Bali, who had taken control of the entire universe, into giving up his power. 

Parashurama Avatar 

In this incarnation, Lord Vishnu appeared as a fierce warrior with an axe to rid the earth of evil and corrupt rulers and restore the moral order. 

Rama Avatar

In this incarnation, Lord Vishnu appeared as the ideal king and warrior-prince to defeat the demon king Ravana and rescue his wife Sita, who had been abducted by Ravana. 

Krishna Avatar 

In this incarnation, Lord Vishnu appeared as a charming cowherd boy and a wise teacher to guide humanity and defeat the demon king Kamsa and other evil forces. 

Buddha Avatar

In this incarnation, Lord Vishnu appeared as Gautama Buddha, the founder of Buddhism, to spread the message of compassion, non-violence and spiritual enlightenment. 

Kalki Avatar

In this incarnation, Lord Vishnu is prophesied to appear at the end of the current age, Kali Yuga, as a warrior riding a white horse, to restore the moral order, destroy the wicked, and usher in a new golden age.
