DIET DURING PERIODS 

Suffer from painful period cramps? Here are some foods that you should totally avoid during periods to make it easier for you.

SPICY FOODS 

Spicy foods can cause water retention in body, further leading to bloating. Spicy foods can irritate your stomach, lead to discomfort and even aggravate cramps.

ALCOHOL 

Alcohol consumption during menstruation can cause swelling in the lower abdomen, which can cause period irregularities and discomfort. 

COFFEE 

Cottee consumption can cause dehydration, which further narrow down your blood vessels and restrict the blood flow. This can trigger camps and headaches.

PROCESSED FOODS 

Chuck out all types of packaged and processed foods from your diet during periods. It is best to stick to light, healthy and homemade food during these days.

DAIRY PRODUCTS  

Foods like milk, curd, cheese etc can cause bloating, gas and diarrhoea. It is best to skip dairy products for a few days to manage periods well.

FRIED FOODS 

Fried foods contain high amounts of saturated fats which can multiply the intensity of period cramps and even lead to mood swings.

RED MEAT 

Red meat contains a compound called arachidonic acid which can multiply the amount of pain you feel during periods.

EXCESS SALT 

Foods with excessive amounts of salt can make you feel bloated and lethargic. The sodium content in salt might also worsen the cramps.
