Two medals in Olympics 2024
Manu Bhaker made India proud by securing the bronze medal in the 10m Air Pistol event at the Paris Olympics. She also clinched her second medal in the Mixed Air Pistol event alongside Sarabjot Singh.

Manu Bhaker's life
Bhaker, who made history as the first Indian woman to secure an Olympic medal in a shooting discipline, was born in February 2002 in Jhajjar, Haryana.

Schooling
Manu Bhaker finished her education at Universal Public Secondary School.

In 2021, she completed her degree in Political Science honours from Lady Shri Ram College, University of Delhi. She is currently enrolled in a Public Administration program at Punjab University.

Trying out sports
Bhaker engaged in tennis, skating, and boxing during her time in school, as well as in the martial art of 'thang ta', earning medals at the national level.

Taking up shooting
At the age of 14, shortly after the Rio Olympics, she made an impulsive decision to take up shooting and quickly developed a passion for the sport.

Investment from dad
Within a week, Manu Bhaker requested her father to purchase a sports shooting pistol to refine her skills, and he provided her with Rs 1.5 lakh.

Tokyo heartbreak, Paris comeback
Her chances at a medal during the Tokyo 2020 Olympics were thwarted by a pistol malfunction in the same event. Nevertheless, she made a strong comeback making history for India.
