HOJAI, July 2: Incessant rain over the past few days has disrupted life in Hojai district, leading to a grim situation in several villages including Raikata, Kumrakata, Nabhanga, Dakhin Kenduguri, Theplaguri, Jugijaan, and others. The water level of the Kapili river has risen, causing many village roads to be submerged. The main road connecting Hojai and West Karbi Anglong at Tumpreng is also underwater due to flash floods. Additionally, the bridge connecting Warigading to Nepalikuthi was washed away on Tuesday.
“People and animals alike are facing difficult times. This is the third flood within a month, and just when we were coping with the losses from the previous waves, continuous rain has once again created havoc,” said a villager from Kumrakata.
Local residents have urged the Hojai district administration to rescue those stranded by the deluge. Meanwhile, the district administration is actively engaged in rescue efforts and is providing shelter to affected individuals at relief camps.
