Paddy procurement centres inaugurated in Biswanath

Biswanath Chariali, Dec 3: A paddy procurement centre under the Food Corporation of India (FCI) was inaugurated in Panibharal area of Biswanath district on Saturday. The centre was inaugurated by additional deputy commissioner of Biswanath, Dr. Surya Kamal Bora. The inauguration ceremony was attended by district agriculture officer, Deepak Barhoi and other officers and employees of the Agriculture department. The additional deputy commissioner urged the farmers to sell paddy at Rs. 2,040 per quintal at the minimum support price fixed by the Government. The district agriculture officer urged all farmers to take advantage of this facility and contact the agricultural extension assistant/agricultural development officer in their respective areas as soon as possible.

Similarly, on December 2, deputy commissioner of Biswanath, Munindra Nath Nagatey had inaugurated another paddy procurement centre at Gardehagi in Biswanath under the Assam Food and Civil Supplies Corporation Limited, a company under the Government of Assam.

The inauguration ceremony of the paddy procurement centre was attended by several local farmers who expressed their satisfaction with the paddy procurement system. In parallel, a paddy procurement centre was inaugurated at Balijan in Gohpur district on Saturday.
