MARGHERITA, Jan 6: The Tangsa community’s traditional harvest festival, Wihu-Kuh, was celebrated on Sunday at Kharang Kong under the Khumchai Gaon Panchayat of the Margherita co-district.
Nayung Mossang, the president of the All Assam Tangsa Student Union Central Executive Committee, expressed that Wihu-Kuh is a significant event for the Tangsa community, celebrated with immense joy and unity across Assam.
In the Kharang Kong village, which is part of the 83rd Margherita Constituency and home to over 1,200 Tangsa community members, the festival holds deep cultural significance.
Nayung Mossang shared that the people of Kharang Kong have been celebrating the Wihu-Kuh harvest festival for centuries, continuing the tradition with great enthusiasm and harmony each year and on behalf of Tangsa community people I wish all the people of Assam a very happy and prosperous “Wihu-Kuh” harvest festival.
The festivities included traditional Tangsa Sah Polo dance performances, songs and various merry making activities which were enjoyed by the local community, marking another successful celebration of their rich cultural heritage, said Mossang.
