HAFLONG, Dec 3: Two individuals have been accused of molesting a woman in Haflong, according to a complaint filed by the victim. The accused, identified as Abdus Siddique and Aahad Uddin, allegedly exploited their business ties with the woman to perpetrate the assaults.
The victim claims the incidents occurred on November 1 and November 24, 2024. Despite her warnings to expose them, she alleges that Siddique and Uddin attempted to pressure her into silence, even asserting that they could manipulate the legal system.
The victim further disclosed that she received threatening phone calls urging her not to report the matter to authorities. Despite these attempts to intimidate her, the woman filed a formal complaint on December 1, 2024, at the Haflong Police Station.
In her complaint, she detailed the physical and emotional toll of the alleged assaults and appealed to chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and the chief executive member of the North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council, Debolal Gorlosa, to ensure the perpetrators are held accountable.
An FIR has been lodged, and the police have launched an investigation. The victim has expressed her trust in law enforcement and called for swift action to deliver justice, stating that no woman should have to endure such trauma.
