SIVASAGAR, May 14: The police arrested a person for sexually two minor girls in Sivasagar.
The accused has been identified as Suraj Rajak of Samastipur in Bihar. He has been booked under section 4 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act 2019 (Amendment) Cr PC, Article 376 Â on Monday following an FIR filed by parents of two minor girls aged four and five years respectively.
According to reports, the accused worked in a laundry and lived in a rented house in Rang Ghar Chariali near the victim’s family. He had reportedly been sexually abusing the two little girls for a long period by enticing them with sweets and chocolates till they complained of acute pain to their parents. He was produced before the judicial magistrate from where he was sent to jail.
Monica Saikia, a leading women activist of the state condemned the incident and demanded exemplary punishment while Indrani Rajkumari, general secretary of the Sadaou Asom Mohila Samity, demanded capital punishment for the criminal.
