KOKRAJHAR, Nov 4: An awareness programme on the wage compensation scheme for pregnant women
of tea gardens, Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) and other government health scheme
was held at Kokrajhar Tea Estate in Kokrajhar on Saturday.
A large numbers of participants including officials from health department, social welfare, anganwadi
workers, ASHA workers, tea garden workers participated in the programme. The event was organized by
the Kokrajhar district women and child development and the National Health Mission (NHM).
Officials educated the people present on the various initiatives initiated by the state women and child
development department and the health department to create awareness about various women centric
government schemes among the tea garden workers and rural areas.
Kokrajhar district commissioner Pradeep Kumar Dwivedi, joint director of Kokrajhar district health
services A S Sarma and additional district commissioner Kabita Deka were present on the occasion.
Pradeep Kumar Dwivedi said, “Our focus is to educate the pregnant women living in tea gardens and
rural areas about various governmental schemes available for them and also on ways to avail the
benefits from these schemes. Such initiatives will provide sufficient extensive support and facilities for
the pregnant women in days to come.”
