DIPHU, April 16: Intensifying the campaign for BJP candidate Amarsing Tisso from the 6 – Diphu (ST) Parliamentary Constituency, in the ensuing second phase of the Parliamentary election in Assam on April 26, chief executive member (CEM) of KAAC and star campaigner Tuliram Ronghang attended an election rally held at Bhelaguri playground under the Howraghat Member of Autonomous Council (MAC) constituency on Tuesday.
Ronghang, wooing voters, said that peace prevailing in Karbi Anglong has accelerated development.
“With the signing of a peace agreement with six armed groups, normalcy has returned. As peace has prevailed, development has not stagnated and is progressing rapidly. Projects such as the District Hospital in Hamren, a 100-bedded hospital in Bokajan town, and Government Law College in Diphu are currently underway,” he stated.
Assuring development for the voters of Howraghat, the CEM announced that under the Asom Mala State government-sponsored scheme, an amount of Rs 922 crore will be allocated for the improvement of roads from Howraghat Tiniali to Hamren town.
Notably, Howraghat town will be equipped with four lanes with dividers, and an open stage will be constructed.
The CEM mentioned that several families did not receive housing under PMAY due to difficulties in conducting geo-tech assessments, but after the election, the process will resume to ensure every household receives it.
He also highlighted the Assam government’s initiative to provide a loan amount of Rs 2 lakh to unemployed educated youths for setting up businesses. The government will repay Rs 1 lakh, while the remaining Rs 1 lakh will need to be repaid to the bank within five years. Such a scheme aims to support local youths.
The election rally was attended by deputy chairman of KAAC, Ajit Kumar Dey; MLA Dorsing Ronghang; BJP candidate Amarsing Tisso; and president of EKADC, Roland Killing.
Earlier, the CEM attended an election rally held at Bakulia under the Langfer MAC constituency.
Meanwhile, the Congress, with the theme ‘Save the Constitution and Democracy of India’, campaigned at Balipathar for INDI Alliance MP Candidate Joyram Engleng.
Congress MP Candidate Joyram Engleng criticized the BJP, stating that if the Narendra Modi-led coalition wins the general election, the Constitution of India and Sixth Schedule will be altered.
He expressed concerns that GST will be increased to affect the poor, emphasizing the necessity to defeat the BJP.
