Awareness meeting on drug abuse held at Dibong Phakial Primary School, Tinsukia

MARGHERITA, May 18: An awareness meeting on the ill effects of drug abuse and its impact on the new generation was held on Saturday at Dibong Phakial Primary School under the Margherita subdivision of Tinsukia district.

The awareness meeting was organised by the All Assam Gorkha Students Union (AAGSU) Ketetong, Powai Bongaon Regional Committee, and the 2nd Dibong Phakial Village Development Party.

The meeting was presided over by Prabhat Rai, the president of All Assam Gorkha Student Union (AAGSU) Ketetong Powai Bongaon Regional Committee.

A number of people participated in the awareness meeting on the ill effects of drug abuse and its impact on the new generation.

The meeting was attended by Robin Raja, the president of the Margherita Police Station Committee, assistant secretary Abdul Alim, Satra Mukti Sangram Samity Central Committee general secretary Rahul Chetry, All Assam Gorkha Student Union (AAGSU) Tinsukia District Committee president Ashok Lama, and many other distinguished and resourceful individuals from the area.

In his speech, Robin Raja mentioned that drug abuse has rapidly increased in the Margherita subdivision, and the youth are falling prey to it. He expressed the concerns of the people of Margherita about eradicating the ill effects of drug abuse. Robin Raja emphasised the importance of immediately informing the Margherita Police Station about any information regarding drug peddlers, and he assured that the village defense party would cooperate in apprehending those individuals who are spoiling society and the nation.

Rahul Chetry stressed that everyone must be aware and vigilant about the ill effects of drug abuse. He urged anyone with information about drug peddling to promptly inform the Margherita Police Station.
