NAGAON, June 6: Following the sharp criticism by Khumtai BJP MLA Mrinal Saikia, former BJP four-time MP and Union minister Rajen Gohain expressed his vigor and criticised the state chief minister and his teammates, alleging that if he and his team continue to showcase such arrogance as well as autocracy, the roots of the party in the state will be smashed soon.

Referring to the chief minister’s recent remarks against MLA Mrinal Saikia, the senior BJP leader of the state said his remarks hurt him a lot, saying that sincere and dedicated party workers like them who sacrificed a lot for the party earlier in the state will not let him and his associates smash the party’s roots in the state at all.

“We all the senior party leaders as well as workers will get together soon to make a roadmap for rescuing the party from the possible debacle in the upcoming 2026 assembly polls,” Gohain added further.

While interacting with some local media persons at his Nagaon residence, Gohain also commented on the victory of Congress candidate Gaurav Gogoi in the Jorhat parliamentary constituency and said that instead of Topon Gogoi, the chief minister himself indirectly contested this time against Gaurav Gogoi in Jorhat. Hence, the defeat of Topon Gogoi explained many things.

“The culture of order and patience which were adopted earlier by BJP have been inherited now by the present Congress workers in the state while some BJP leaders as well as party workers who joined the party recently hijacked the earlier odd Congress culture and implemented it on the party floor for which the party has to face the ultimate results in Jorhat,” Gohain asserted more.

He, however, said it is the actual time to review their faults as well as other feedback and correct all accordingly in time to hold on the public faith in the party so far.
