GUWAHATI, June 12: Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya has summoned the Budget session of the state’s 16th legislative assembly from July 6, according to an official notification issued on Friday.
The session will convene at 9.30 am on that day and will last for 21 days.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma had last week said that the benefits of all development schemes will be disbursed from August 1 after the full Budget is passed during the session.
He said that due to the elections, only a vote-on-account, not the full Budget, could be passed and as a result, the benefits of the schemes could not be disbursed.
The new assembly’s first session was held for four days from May 21, during which the Speaker was elected, the newly elected MLAs took the oath, and the Uniform Civil Code was passed. among other businesses of the House. (PTI)
