TEZPUR, June 3: The District Consultative Committee (DCC) and District Level Review Committee (DLRC) meeting for Sonitpur district, covering the quarter ending March 2025, was convened on Tuesday at the Conference Hall of the Deputy Commissioner’s office. The meeting was chaired by Additional Deputy Commissioner Twahir Alam.
Organized under the leadership of Lead District Manager Achajya Sonowal, the meeting focused on reviewing the performance of various banks operating in the district. Key performance indicators, including deposits, advances, the credit-deposit (CD) ratio, and the implementation status of several government-sponsored schemes, were thoroughly assessed.
Special attention was given to flagship schemes such as PM Surya Ghar, Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP), PM Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME), Kisan Credit Card (KCC), Assam State Rural Livelihoods Mission (ASRLM), and social security initiatives. Banks were urged to prioritize these schemes and strengthen outreach to eligible beneficiaries.
During the session, the District Development Manager (DDM) of NABARD, Sonitpur, emphasized the need for monthly financial literacy camps, particularly in rural and remote areas, to boost banking awareness and inclusion.
The forum also addressed challenges and bottlenecks faced by both the banking sector and implementing government departments, with the collective goal of streamlining loan disbursal processes and ensuring that deserving applicants receive timely financial support.
A significant highlight of the meeting was the unveiling of the Annual Credit Plan 2025–26 for Sonitpur district, meticulously prepared by the Lead Bank Office of UCO Bank. The plan outlines the projected credit flow for the upcoming financial year and sets targets across various priority sectors.
The meeting witnessed participation from senior representatives of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), NABARD, Assam Gramin Vikash Bank (AGVB), Rural Self Employment Training Institute (R-SETI), branch managers of various banks operating in the district, and officials from multiple departments under the district administration.
The DCC and DLRC meetings continue to serve as critical platforms for coordination between the banking sector and government agencies, ensuring effective delivery of financial services and development schemes at the grassroots level.
