District level meeting focuses on implementation of Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace Act

MORIGAON, June 22:
 In collaboration with the district administration, the Women & Child Development Office of Morigaon organised a district level meeting on Thursday at the DC’s conference hall. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss and address the implementation of the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition & Redressal) Act – 2013. The event commenced with a welcome address by Ahidul Islam, the district officer of W&CD, Morigaon. The deputy commissioner, Devashis Sharma, IAS, ADC Dyotiva Bora, CA, OSC, Morigaon, Suwansree Das, advocate Niranjan Borua from Morigaon, and Lalita Deka, gender specialist from DHEW and DHEW, Morigaon, Pinky Moni Devi were present at the meeting.
During the meeting, advocate Niranjan Borua, a senior advocate, delivered a comprehensive speech on the topic of ‘Importance of Understanding Sexual Harassment, Meaning of Workplace, Employee, and Employers in the Context of POSH Act-2013’. Lalita Deka, the gender specialist, discussed the rules, duties, and responsibilities of the Internal Committee (IC) and the local committee, along with sharing relevant formats. The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by CA, OSC, Morigaon.
The meeting witnessed the participation of department heads representing various sectors.
