GUWAHATI, Oct 16: Tragedy struck in the serene surroundings of Manas National Park (MNP) as a forest guard lost his life, while two others sustained injuries during an encounter with a wild buffalo, as confirmed by an official on Monday.
The incident unfolded on Sunday night when the forest guards were dutifully patrolling the Bhuyanpara forest range within the UNESCO World Heritage Site, Manas National Park.
Tragically, a wild buffalo launched an attack on the three forest guards during their patrol, resulting in the immediate loss of Robin Basumatary’s life. Meanwhile, the two injured guards, identified as Hitesh Medhi and Krishna Boro, were rushed to a local hospital for treatment. Their condition has been described as critical.
Senior forest officials are actively monitoring the situation, underscoring the serious nature of this incident. The safety and well-being of both forest guards and the wildlife in protected areas remain of paramount importance.
