MORIGAON, Dec 13: One Hindu family living in Dhingarati village, Laharighat has been allegedly harassed repeatedly in the Muslim dominated area for many years. The incident came to light after a tweet by Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on December 12, 2022 in which the CM vowed to take action against those who harassed the lone Hindu family in the Muslim dominated village at Dhingarati in Laharighat of Morigaon district.
The family has been having sleepless nights for the past ten years due to the harassment. The victim’s family has also alleged that they are forced to enter their home before dusk and has been accused of encroaching the land while they have claimed that they are the true owners of the land and have been living there for many years.
Additionally, they have also alleged about a threat to their life that earlier, they were attacked and were told to leave the area and their house was once torched by miscreants in the past.
The family in its complaint has claimed that they have been living on their own land since the days of yore and had also approached the police several times in this regard, but no action was initiated into the matter.
Finding no other solution to their rising troubles, the Hindu family has now sought the intervention of Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma following which the CM has assured timely action against the culprits.
“We will take strong measures immediately so that everyone can live with a sense of peace and security,” the Assam CM tweeted regarding the case.
