IIT Guwahati student from Rajasthan goes missing, search underway

Guwahati, April 17: A student from IIT-Guwahati, originally from Alwar, Rajasthan, disappeared on Tuesday, April 9.

Diwakar Morya, a third-year BTech student, was last seen leaving the campus on a rented two-wheeler with a friend, police reports by Kangkan Kalita reveal. The vehicle was later discovered abandoned on the Brahmaputra bridge in the Jalukbari police station area of Guwahati, according to police sources.

IIT-Guwahati filed a missing person report on Wednesday, and Diwakar’s uncle also filed a report at the Jalukbari police station.

Diwakar’s brother shared that he left for Guwahati on the rented two-wheeler with a friend at 5:30 pm last Tuesday, and they rented a car at Uzan Bazar. On the return trip, Diwakar was on the two-wheeler while his friend drove the car.

He has not been seen since. Diwakar’s uncle, Sunil Kumar, expressed concern that Diwakar may have disappeared between IIT-Guwahati and Uzan Bazar.
