Journalist Uttam Nath felicitated

BISWANATH CHARIALI, Feb 6: In a public meeting convened by the Sootea Press Club, journalist and secretary of Sootea Press Club Uttam Kumar Nath was felicitated by the members of Sootea Press Club along with the representatives of Istantik Club, Sootea branch of Assam Sahitya Sabha among others on Thursday.

It is to be mentioned here that Nath has been awarded the title ‘Asom’ by the Ahom Jatiya Mahasabha at a function held at Mula Gabharu Moidam located at Solahola in the northern part of Sootea recently.

It is worth mentioning that Nath is a social worker, an environmentalist and a known snake rescuer. The public felicitation programme was held at the conference hall of the press club with Karunananda Hatibaruah, a historian in the chair.

Speakers including Bhaba Saikia, Pankaj Jyoti Bhuyan, Dr Dilip Kumar Bhyan, and Laba Ojha spoke on the occasion. Journalist Nath was felicitated with a sarai, japigamosa, memento and a citation. The meeting was attended by members of the press club, and representatives of various organisations of the greater Sootea area. All the proceedings of the entire session were conducted by Pranab Ojha, president of Sootea Press Club.
