NF Railway marks a steady growth in freight loading

GUWAHATI, April 4: Northeast Frontier Railway has been continuously registering growth in freight loading. NF Railway loaded 1.204 MT during March, 2022. This is an increase of over 60% in comparison to the corresponding period of last year. NF Railway loaded 10.387 MT during the period from April, 2021 to March, 2022 as compared to 7.683 MT done in corresponding period of last year. This is an increase of 35.2%.

During March, coal loading was increased by 1690.9% and loading of a few other commodities were also increased by a good margin in comparison to the corresponding period of last year. During the month, dolomite loading increased by 104.8%, fertiliser loading increased by 120%, POL loading increased by 16.1%, container loading increased by 10% and loading of other commodities increased by 42.8%. 

During the fiscal year from April, 2021 to March, 2022, coal loading increased by 138.4%, dolomite loading increased by 170.8% in comparison to previous fiscal year. Food grains loading increased by 8.4%, fertiliser loading increased by 21.4%, container loading increased by 57.1% and other commodities increased by 83.8%.

Freight transportation by railways is covering new boundaries as it provides the most economical & environment friendly mode for transportation of goods (perishable & non-perishable) available for customers. NF Railway is constantly exploring areas which lack proper mode of mass transportation and develop those areas at a steady pace. Business Development Units (BDUs) at NF Railway headquarters and divisional levels have helped in capturing new traffic as well as addressing the limitations during the loading process so as to eliminate those hindrances and boost freight loading and trade.
