July 4, Thursday: In a tragic incident, Priyanka Tamuli Phukan, a teacher at Cotton Collegiate Government Higher Secondary School, was arrested for her involvement in a fatal hit-and-run accident in Assam. The incident occurred on the banks of the Dighali pond, where Bhargav, the wife of a senior journalist, was struck by a vehicle registered as AS01BY0044. Despite immediate medical attention, Bhargav succumbed to her injuries.
The Panbazar police swiftly traced and seized the vehicle involved. Following an investigation, Priyanka Tamuli Phukan was taken into custody. The community is in shock, mourning the loss of Bhargav and calling for stricter road safety measures. The police have urged anyone with further information to come forward to aid in the ongoing investigation.
