Discussion session held at Rabindranath Tagore University

Hojai, May 5: Under the aegis of Rabindranath Tagore University ‘Sankardev Sahitya Chora’ Assamese department organised a day long discussion session on ‘Asomiya Shishu aru Kishor Sahitya’ and ‘Asomiya Kabitar Gathipath’ at the conference hall, RTU in Hojai on Thursday. The session began with a Borgeet performed by a student namely Shruti Ghosh, composed by Mahapurush Srimanta Sankardev which was followed by the inaugural speech by Prof Amalendu Chakrabarty, vice-chancellor of RTU. In the main session, Prof Karabi Deka Hazarika, noted educationist and literary personality of Assam and former HoD of Assamese department, Dibrugarh University kept a detailed deliberation on the subject. She highlighted the major points on the mentioned subject. A poem of Prof Karabi Deka Hazarika was recited by Devoraj Mili. The programme was anchored by Manisha Saikia, assistant professor and vote of thanks was delivered by Devoraj Mili, assistant professor, department of Assamese. The entire session was presided by Dr Bina Saikia, HoD, department of Assamese, RTU. The session was marked by many teachers and students.
