GUWAHATI, Oct 1: Guwahati International Airport commemorated Mahatma Gandhi’s birth anniversary by conducting the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan at its premises. The program, held in collaboration with all major airport departments, aimed to promote cleanliness and hygiene.
More than 200 employees from various entities, including CISF, GIAL, AAI, airlines, and other
stakeholders, actively participated in the cleanliness drive. As part of this initiative, Guwahati
International Airport Limited (GIAL) provided dustbins to nearby food outlets, encouraging responsible waste disposal.
The Chief Airport Officer emphasised the importance of maintaining cleanliness at the airport, as it
serves as the first impression for both regional and international travelers. He stated, “The cleanliness of the premises is one of our primary responsibilities, as tourists and passengers from regional and international destinations visit here. Therefore, we appeal to shop operators and employees to use dustbins and help us maintain cleanliness. We respect the philosophy of Mahatma Gandhi and firmly believe that ‘cleanliness is godliness’.”
This Swachh Bharat Abhiyan event underscores the airport’s commitment to providing a clean and
welcoming environment for travelers and visitors.
