KOKRAHAR, Oct 6: The All Bodo Students Union (ABSU) is continuing its agitation, demanding the removal and suspension of Prof Laishram Ladusingh, the vice chancellor of Bodoland University. They are calling for the immediate appointment of a new vice chancellor to ensure good governance in the educational institution.
ABSU, along with other organizations, held a protest demonstration in front of the university complex in Debargaon, Kokrajhar. Hundreds of activists, members, and local citizens joined the demonstration, holding banners and placards and shouting slogans demanding the removal of Prof Laishram Ladusingh.
Prof Ladusingh has been accused of financial anomalies in the administration of the university, yet he continues to hold the position of vice chancellor. ABSU and local residents allege that he has been involved in massive financial irregularities while in office, leading to severe hardships for students pursuing higher studies at the university.
Despite various protests and the submission of several memoranda to the Chancellor of Bodoland University, who is the Governor of Assam, no concrete action has been taken against the vice chancellor to date.
ABSU has announced an indefinite protest against the vice chancellor until a new vice chancellor is appointed at Bodoland University.
Khwrwmdao Wary, the vice president of ABSU, stated that they are demanding immediate and strict action against Prof Laishram Ladusingh, who is allegedly involved in massive financial irregularities in the university. He emphasized that Ladusingh is facing corruption allegations and is not suitable to continue as vice chancellor. ABSU is calling for the appointment of a new vice chancellor to ensure a healthy educational environment.
