DIBRUGARH, Oct 25: Durga Puja celebrations in Dibrugarh concluded peacefully after four days of vibrant festivities, with more than 120 Durga Puja committees participating in the city while adhering to all safety protocols.
The Dibrugarh district administration had diligently put in place a comprehensive set of measures to ensure the smooth conduct of the immersion ceremony at the Brahmaputra ghat. However, some Durga Puja committees expressed dissatisfaction with the administration’s handling of the immersion process.
While speaking on behalf of one of the Durga Puja committees, a member stated, “Everything was fine, but the Dibrugarh district administration should consider implementing additional measures during the immersion. We are not entirely content with the administration’s handling of the immersion process. The overall management at the immersion ghat fell short of expectations.”
The immersion ceremony commenced at noon and continued into the late hours, with devotees bidding adieu to the idols in a spirit of celebration and devotion. Dibrugarh district commissioner Bikram Kairi, Superintendent of Police Shwetank Mishra, MLA Prasanta Phukan, DMB Chairman Saikat Patra, and various other officials from the district administration were present to oversee and support the immersion proceedings.
