Ayodhya, Dec 30: Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged the public of Ayodhya to limit their visits to the city for security and logistical reasons. The Prime Minister visited the Ram Temple in Ayodhya on Saturday, with its inauguration scheduled for January 22.
Despite recognizing the eagerness of Ram devotees to participate in the historic event, PM Modi clarified that only a select few have been invited to the inauguration ceremony. He advised the public to visit Ayodhya at their convenience after the formal inauguration on January 22.
Emphasizing the influx of visitors from across the country and globally, he appealed for a collective effort to make Ayodhya the cleanest city in the country. PM Modi asserted that Ayodhya has become a major tourist attraction and urged the public to maintain its cleanliness.
He also suggested a nationwide cleanliness campaign at pilgrimage sites starting January 14, Makar Sankranti. In addition, he encouraged the public to light a ‘Ram Jyoti’ in their homes on January 22, coinciding with the idol consecration at the Ram Temple, and celebrate Diwali.
PM Narendra Modi arrived in Ayodhya earlier today, unveiling a ‘new look old’ city featuring an airport, a revamped train station, and projects worth Rs 15,700 crore.
