Guwahati, Jan 6: The Government Railway Police (GRP) seized two gold biscuits from Avadh Assam Express on Saturday morning, arresting one Altar Khan in relation to the smuggling attempt.
The confiscated gold biscuits weighed approximately 328 grams, according to GRP officials. Khan allegedly smuggled the gold biscuits from neighbouring state, Manipur.
In another incident, a joint operation by the GRP and Railway Protection Force (RPF) resulted in the seizure of six packets of heroin from Tripura Sundari Express. Two individuals, Sagar Bardhan and Ravi Roy, were apprehended in connection with this case.
Initial reports suggest these drug peddlers were distributing narcotics from Agartala. Additionally, in an operation at Kamakhya Railway Station, the GRP and RPF seized illegally smuggled medical equipment worth over Rs 12 lakh.
Two people, Rahul Das and Niton Ali, were detained for smuggling the aforementioned items.
