The complaint was filed following a significant law and order disruption at Khanapara, Guwahati, as the Yatra attempted to enter the city, contrary to prohibitions. The FIR has been registered against Rahul Gandhi, KC Venugopal , Kanhaiya Kumar and other individuals under section 120(B)143/147/188/283/353/332/333/427 IPC R/W Sec. 3 of PDPP Act.

As per sources, the authorities had only allowed the Yatra to follow the highway route via Basistha, Garchuk, Lokhra, and Jalukbari before proceeding towards lower Assam.

However, the Yatra, led by Rahul Gandhi and other senior Congress leaders, attempted to enter Guwahati from Khanapara, leading to a standoff with the authorities. The ensuing altercation resulted in injuries to Assam Congress chief Bhupen Borah and several police personnel.

Following the incident, a complaint was filed against Rahul Gandhi for not complying with the authorities’ directives and for the injuries inflicted on the police personnel. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma accused Rahul Gandhi and Jitendra Singh Alwar of inciting mob violence against the state police during the Yatra.
