TEZPUR, May 31: As part of the ongoing ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ initiative of the government, the Blazing Sword Children Summer Camp 2022 was conducted from May 24 to 27 at Missamari Military Station for children of service personnel of Missamari Military Station. It witnessed enthusiastic participation from 134 children belonging to the age group of 6 years to 16 years. The Summer Camp was inaugurated by Maj Gen Charanjeev Manju, SM, VSM, GOC 71 Infantry Division on May 24. The event was conducted with an aim to provide a wholesome experience to young boys and girls, facilitating their overall personality development through multifaceted educational, recreational and other activities. To achieve the same, a plethora of activities were conducted. The events included a run for fun, yoga & meditation, tree plantation, best out of waste, candle making exercise, dance & singing and puppet show. It also included educational classes on listening skill, stress & anger management, self-defence, first aid & dental hygiene.
Children were also exposed to the latest defence equipment through an equipment display and visit to the aviation base. The children enjoyed all the activities, relished delicious meals throughout the summer camp and also won lots of gifts and prizes. The Summer Camp was concluded on May 27 with a closing address and prize distribution programme by GOC, 71 Infantry Division, stated a press release issued by Lt Col A S Walia, PRO (Defence), Tezpur.
