Guwahati, March 19: The District Transport Officer (DTO) of Kamrup Metro announced an investigation into a fatal accident in Guwahati’s Khanapara area that led to the death of an auto-rickshaw driver, Hitesh Kalita, on Tuesday.
The DTO warned bus conductors against driving, stating they would face severe penalties for non-compliance. The Transport Department has discussed the incident with the Assam State Transport Corporation (ASTC) and the auto-drivers association.

The accident, involving a CNG bus (registration number AS 20 2558) and a parked auto-rickshaw (registration number AS 01QC 8716), also resulted in two other individuals being injured and hospitalised.
