New Delhi, May5: On Sunday, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s cabinet decided to cease Al Jazeera’s operations in Israel during the ongoing conflict in Gaza, citing national security reasons.
Al Jazeera, funded by Qatar and continuously covering the war from Gaza, refuted allegations of posing a security threat to Israel as “dangerous and baseless”, and expressed intent to seek legal recourse. Netanyahu announced this decision on social media, labelling Al Jazeera as an “incitement channel”.

Israel’s communications minister has been directed to immediately execute this decision, including shutting down Al Jazeera’s offices, seizing their equipment, and blocking their broadcasts and websites.
However, there is potential for Al Jazeera to legally contest this decision. This development occurs amidst escalating tensions between Israel and Al Jazeera, as the network blames Israeli authorities for intentionally targeting and killing its journalists during the conflict, a claim Israel vehemently denies.
