This arrest follows the registration of a case by the SIC (Vigilance) on December 20 last year, prompted by a report from Tajing Saroh that exposed illegal appointments of primary teachers (PRTs) and multi-tasking staff (MTS) within the Siang district’s education department.

Nong Paron’s arrest is the second in this particular investigation, with the first being the detention of retired DDSE Talem Jamoh on May 1. SP Mittal explained that Paron’s arrest came after extensive document scrutiny, suspect interrogations, and technical analyses. Paron hails from Rengging village in East Siang district.

So far, a total of 13 individuals, primarily government officials, have been arrested in connection with the job scam within the state education department, spanning multiple districts. The SIC continues its detailed investigation into all aspects of the illegal appointment case, aiming to uncover the full extent of the malpractices and hold all responsible parties accountable.
