DIPHU, July 20: SBI Life Insurance, Diphu, recently organised a staff get-together featuring a food feast aimed at promoting women empowerment.
The event showcased homemade dishes prepared by women staff members, highlighting a variety of local ethnic, Northeastern, and mainland Indian cuisines.
Speaking on the occasion, Gunjan Sarma, deputy regional manager of SBI Life Insurance, emphasised the event’s significance, stating, “At SBI Life Insurance, Diphu, we encourage our women staff to showcase their talents and capabilities. By providing opportunities for them to step out of their homes and demonstrate their skills, we empower them to learn and earn.”
He added that the Diphu Friends Club, comprising staff members, not only engages in routine activities but also contributes to social causes such as distributing raincoats and umbrellas to traffic police and supporting cancer patients.
Gunjan Sarma also advocated for indigenous people to explore business opportunities and expand their market presence to generate income.
Basapi Phangchopi, adviser at SBI Life Insurance, Diphu, emerged as the winner of the food feast.
The judging panel included Serlin Engtipi, owner of Choi Enterprise, and Ishita Terangpi, a social activist.
