GUWAHATI, Aug 12: Newly appointed Chhattisgarh Governor Ramen Deka was warmly felicitated upon his arrival in his home state Assam for the first time after assuming office. A ‘Nagrik Abhinandan’ program was organised in his honour at Parshuram Seva Sadan in Chatribari, Guwahati, under the joint aegis of the Lions Club of Guwahati Greater and the Rajasthan Foundation. Representatives from over 60 social organisations participated in the event, expressing their admiration and respect for Governor Deka.
Governor Ramen Deka inaugurated the ‘Nagrik Abhinandan’ ceremony by lighting a lamp. During the event, he expressed his gratitude for the overwhelming love and support from the people of Assam. He acknowledged that the opportunity to serve as the Governor of Chhattisgarh was a result of the affection and backing he received from his home state. Governor Deka reassured everyone that, despite holding the office of Governor, he remains accessible to all.
Immediate past president of Lions Greater, Pramod Harlalka, noted that the ceremony was graced by several dignitaries, including Guwahati mayor Mrigen Sarnia, NRL chairman Bijay Gupta, former district governor of Lions Club Dr SS Harlalka, president of Lions Greater Jyoti Agarwal, president of Rajasthan Foundation Ramesh Pareek, secretary Dinesh Sharma, and advisor Chandra Prakash Sharma, who all shared their thoughts during the event.
Program coordinator Niru Kabra highlighted that representatives from numerous social organisations in the city gathered to honour Governor Deka at the ‘Nagrik Abhinandan’ ceremony. Over 60 organisations felicitated Governor Deka and First Lady Rani Deka Kakoti by presenting them with traditional phulam gamosa, japi, and mementos. Vijay Sharma mentioned that BJP state treasurer Raj Kumar Sharma, councillors from various GMC Wards, and officials from Lions District were also present.
Immediate past president Pramod Harlalka extended his heartfelt gratitude to all the representatives from various organisations who attended the event, making the ‘Nagrik Abhinandan’ ceremony a grand and memorable success.
