DIPHU, July 3: The Karbi Anglong Hmar Association (KAHA) has extended appreciation to Lalhlupui Songate, the general secretary of KAHA for her humanitarian service extended towards the three youths who met with a road accident on June 28, near Believers Church, Taralangso Road, here. Songate is daughter of Rokunglien Songate, a resident of Birla, Diphu.
The youths were Ajit Timung (18), son of Sing Chinthong, resident of Umplung, West Karbi Anglong; Serdihun Phangchopi (16), daughter of Stephen Phangcho and and Langtuk Phangcho (13), son of Stephen Phangcho, a resident of Jirikindeng, Umkhermi, West Karbi Anglong.
The press statement of KAHA said that Songate was available at the accident spot and seeing the badly injured teenagers, she extended help by admitting them in Diphu Medical College and Hospital.
Appreciating the humanitarian service of Songate, KAHA said her deed has set an example as a responsible youth of the Hmar community and it is also evident that women are no longer treated as a weaker section in the Hmar society. She set an example for others to follow.
Songate is presently teaching in Redeemer English School, near Birla Gate, Diphu.
