AGARTALA, Oct 21: Amitabh Ranjan, Director General of Police, Tripura, announced that the state’s police force has been operating without external interference, successfully maintaining law and order.
He proudly revealed that this year, Tripura has achieved the lowest crime rate across all categories in the past decade.
DGP Ranjan made these statements during Police Commemoration Day, observed at the Manoranjan Debbarma Smriti Stadium, A.D. Nagar Police Line in Agartala.
“I want to clarify that any misconceptions regarding law and order are unfounded. In fact, compared to the last 10 years, this year we have witnessed the lowest crime rates across all categories—whether it’s offences against individuals, property, or women. The diligent efforts of the police have significantly contributed to this reduction. Furthermore, all elections have been conducted peacefully,” said DGP Ranjan.
He also pointed out that recent festivities, including Durga Puja, were held without any disruptions.
“In cases where law and order issues arise, senior officers and forces are immediately deployed to manage the situation. Even in regions where tensions have surfaced recently, Durga Puja was celebrated peacefully, with all communities participating in harmony. Our focus remains on ensuring peace and security, and we’ve taken steps to tighten law enforcement across the state,” he said in his statement to reporters.
The DGP stressed the clear directives guiding the force to act decisively and without interference.
“We are carrying out our duties without any external influence and taking prompt, decisive action to uphold law and order,” he reiterated.
During the commemoration event, DGP Ranjan also honoured the sacrifices made by police personnel in the service of the nation.
“Since Independence, over 35,000 police officers have given their lives to protect the country. Their dedication and determination continue to inspire us as we work tirelessly to preserve peace and unity across the nation,” he concluded.
