Gangaur Festival concludes with idol immersion in Hojai

HOJAI, April 1: ‘Gangaur’, the 18 day-festival concluded with the immersion of idols of Lord Shiva and Parvati at Shivbari Ghat in Hojai on Monday evening.

It is pertinent to mention here that, this puja is mainly done by the newly married bride and young girls. Talking to this Correspondent, Priyam Soni, a devotee said, “Young girls and newly married bride mainly celebrate this festival to appease Lord Shiv and Parvati thereby seek their blessings for their happy and prosperous married life.” At Shivbari ghat after the immersion the ladies and girls were seen smearing colours to each other with religious fervour.
