SIVASAGAR, Aug 3: The three-day culmination function of the year-long silver jubilee celebrations of Natyapeeth Sivasagar ended on July 31 with the sterling performance of the artists of Ranagalaya, the premier theatrical group of Nagaon on the stage in the sets of ‘Maukh’, written and directed by Mrinal Kumar Bora. Artists Anjan Bora, Kinkin Mahanta, Ashok Neog, Biswajit Bora, Akashdip Mudoi, Netra Kamal Bora, Dipu Saikia, and Chayanika Bora in the roles of Dangaria, Aai, Dangar but Majubupa, Sarubupa, Sarupuna, Budhiram, and Maya respectively were simply in their best and enthralled the audience. The musical composition was done by Pradyut Lalung and light by Mrinal Bora and Rajesh Phukan.
The evening programme, dedicated to Natasurjya Phani Sarma was inaugurated by noted artist Makhan Bora. The artists were felicitated by Dr Nilakshi Borgohain, Dr Dilip Baruah, Prasanta Sarma, Dilip Das, Amarjyoti Mahanta, Pranjit Saikia, and many others. The Patit Pawan Das and Santi Das Memorial Drama Evening, on the second day was inaugurated by Bhaskarjyoti Mahanta, DGP, Assam. Mahanta lauded the consistent effort of the theatrical group to produce quality performances over the years to inspire the young generation. Natyapeeth produced a dramatic presentation of its own productions over a quarter of a century since 1996 which was directed by Prasanta Sarma.
